Perhaps you'll get the chance to admire the island of Lošinj from the air? A veritable pleasure for the eyes, Lošinj extends from north to south in the Kvarner Gulf and presents an appearance of abundant vegetation and a particular craggy coast, the outline of which forms various bays and coves where the vivid green of the trees contrasts with the turquoise waters of the Adriatic.
I personally really enjoyed my visits to Cres and Lošinj, two very closely located islands in the Kvarner Gulf. Despite their proximity, the islands are highly contrasting in character: Cres is drier and wilder whilst Lošinj, just to its south. is more hospitable and more visited by tourists. Don't be afraid to explore however: visiting Lošinj then continuing on beyond the pretty little coastal area around Mali Lošinj is a trip well worth doing.
This is both because the island and its particularly variegated coastline are simply incomparable and because not many tourists venture beyond Suncana Uvala, just to the south of Mali Lošinj. It is enough, therefore, to simply hire a bike or plan a walk, setting off early in the morning along the quiet road that winds its way along the coast …
There are some suggested routes on a map you can get from the Tourism Office. However, there is little risk of getting lost as the island is not very large … you simply need to follow the coastline! Once you get away from the rows of fairly characterless hotels and guest houses dotted around Mali Lošinj, you begin to appreciate the tranquility and natural beauty of the place; the sea here, its waters both turquoise and transparent, washes up on rocks that look as if they were designed by the nimble fingers of a skilled lacemaker!
Simply enjoying the surroundings is enough, walking at your own pace and examining the abundant vegetation that shades the route in places (medicinal species are to be found in abundance here, and the scents of eucalyptus, cedar and lemon trees fill the air), or taking the time to stop at each cove in order to bathe or simply take things easy and relax. I would happily return here …
